ELEMENTS OF EFFECTIVE PRAYER - 1: RIGHTEOUSNESS

Righteousness is right standing with God expressed through a life that aligns with His character, will, and standards.

Beloved, prayer is not just about speaking - it is about standing right with God.

Scripture makes it clear in Isaiah 59:1–3 that God’s hand is not short to save, nor His ear deaf to hear - but sin brings a separation. 

Even a single unrepented sin can become a barrier, turning God’s face away and hindering our prayers.

God is merciful, yes - but He is also holy. He does not respond to a life that embraces sin; He responds to a heart that turns away from it.

That is why James 5:16 says: “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” Not just prayer - but the prayer of the righteous.

As seen in Proverbs 28:13, *“He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them (repent ) shall have mercy.” 

Also, Psalms 66:18 reminds us that if we regard iniquity (sin) in our hearts, the Lord will not hear us. 

The charge is 👉 Live Right, Pray Right

A life of righteousness attracts God’s presence. It opens the heavens. It gives your prayers power.

So, don’t just pray - live in a way that your prayers can be heard.
